The Spirit of the beehive

This was a rough first attempt at illustrating a movie opening credits for the Spanish film ‘The Spirit of the Beehive’.

This was a group project in which I completed the following:

• Ideation

• Mood boards

• Illustation

• Animation

• Photography

1. Ideation - We watched multiple films based on the class list and decided on this film due to the many motifs we could pull inspiration from.

2. Mood Board - We created a mood board with stills from the film, colours, illustrations and photography.

3. Illustration - We sketched out the key motifs from the movie.

4. Storyboard - I created a storyboard based on our ideas.

5. After Effects - I animated the storyboard to make a rough cut of the sequence.

The outcome is a short animated sequence which captures the key motifs of the film.
