She waited a long time

This was an illustration task from my first year of my undergraduate degree. We were tasked to create a comic strip based off the line “She waited a long time”.

This was a solo project in which I had complete creative freedom.

1. Writing - I came up with the idea based on the personal childhood experience of going to ‘Big Tesco’ with your mum, and she bumps into a friend. This experience always felt like years had gone by.

2. Experimentation - I created a sketchbook with the character and experimented with her in different scenarios and with other emotions.

3. Illustration- I came up with the final illustration and drew the comic strip on Procreate.

The outcome is a fun, humorous and cute illustrated comic that captures how it feels to wait on your mum to stop talking to a friend when out shopping.
