The tale of lí Ban

an Irish fairy tale for children

  • This was a project from my time on Erasmus. I was given the task to create an illustrated children’s story book using NO TECHNOLOGY. Everything had to be made with your hands, no laptops, phones or iPads allowed.

  • This was a solo project in which I completed the following:

    • Research

    • Planning

    • Illustration

    • Creative writing

    • Editing

    • Book making

    1. Discover - I decided to explore Irish folklore for this project and researched lessser known stories from home.

    2. Develop - I experimented with different materials, art styles and even paper to create my book. I wrote this version of the story myself with a rhyming style.

    3. Deliver - I handwrite, drew and stuck the book together.

  • The outcome was a hand-drawn children’s book. I wrote the story out in a Celtic typeface to represent the history of Ireland.

I got the opportunity to have my work in the Weserburg Museum of Modern Art and got to present it to the visitors of the exhibition.
