Cancer Fund for children’s sponsored garden trail

Enchanted daisy trail

  • I was tasked with creating a leaflet and sign featuring a map and activities to celebrate Cancer Fund for Children’s partnership with Henderson’s as they reach their £2 million fundraising milestone.

This trail will be experienced by families with young children who have been impacted by cancer and are staying at Daisy Lodge. This is a fun activity to entertain them during their stay. It will be used to help them navigate each stop on the trail.

  • This was a solo project in which I completed the following:

    • Research

    • Sketches and planning

    • Illustrating

    • Design

    • Layout design

    1. Discover - I researched inspiration to see how other places, like zoos, cities, gardens, etc., have designed their own illustrative maps.

    2. Develop - This was a project with a quick turnaround, so I sketched a few concepts for the illustrative style and map layout. I worked closely with our event planner to ensure the design matched her intent. I also worked closely with our copywriter, who wrote the poem, to ensure the design was as beautiful as what she had already created. I came up with the fun activities on the back (the colouring page and daisy hunt) to appeal to children and to make the map more personal and interactive.

    3. Deliver - I created a fun, child-friendly map design which captures the fun of the garden trail and promotes the charity’s brand.

  • I created a fresh, fun and child-friendly activity sheet and map, with its own little brand that fits within Cancer Fund for Children’s guidelines.
