Book Swap

research report for a university-based book swapping app

  • For this project, I was tasked to interrogate contemporary social or cultural issues related to my discipline. I had to establish a research question and produce a positioning paper to show my redesigned solution.

  • This was a solo research-based project.

    1. Research - The process involved extensive desk-based and firsthand research; from reading library books and databases to conducting surveys and interviews.

    2. Define - The problem I found is that, with the ever-growing cost of living crisis and lack of funding for students and their universities, academic books are becoming less of a necessity and more of a luxury. They are creating barriers between students from lower-income backgrounds and restricting their quality of education due to the financial strain purchasing these books poses.

    3. Deliver - I created a report and presentation of my findings.

To find out more about my process, look below at my research presentation.

  • My report provided the first steps towards developing an outcome where everyone can access academic books freely, regardless of their social and economic background, through creating an inclusive environment to swap and share books and collaborate with other students safely.
